Volvo Construction Equipment gives oil & gas pipeline contractors a new lift with a revolutionary line of excavator based pipelayers. From the pipe yard to the trench, Volvo pipelayers deliver a competitive edge in even the most demanding conditions:
- Longer boom provides more hook height and better reach
- Lift and positioning performance through 360 degrees of swing
- Boom mounted inside the track frames and close to machine center for higher lift capacity and stability
- Extra-wide undercarriage and wide track shoes increase machine stability and floatation
Volvo’s new Pipelayer series Winner of the prestigious BP Innovation Award in 2008!

Volvo Pipe layers ( …
Volvo Pipe layers (as already stated) have optional Rear View Camera’s which pretty much eliminate, with the helps of mirrors, all blind spots.
I just sent up 4 Camera kits to be installed on the 4 PL4611’s we have out this month.
Customer is beyond pleased with the product and looks like they will be taking even more in the near future.
the new Volvo Pipe layer is in a league of it’s own, far above that of CAT

Thanks for your …
Thanks for your comment. The rear view is actually very good due to the cab riser. Depending on model our piplayer is even equipped with an hydraulically elevated cab which gives the operator a higher postion for even more all-round visibility. Another advantage is the lift and positioning performance through 360 degrees, which is not the case for normal piplayers. Volvo pipelayer do have high tractive effort and stability, depending on model it’s possible to work on up to 35-degree grades.

I havent Run A Volvo pipe layer, I only drove a Cat one for 5 minutes but its like a beached whale. CAT are terrible for cinfined space pipelaying, This would get rid of any need to spin the side loader all the way around.
